graphic identities
In my considerations, Graphic Identities aims to highlight the importance of artists in the pre-digital age, who have shaped the modern Australian way of living through their distinctive talents. Also, the particular reason for eight designers’ work is archived in 2021 Sydney Design Week, it is an opportunity for public to understand and learn from the past respectfully, properly live in present and looking for potentials in the future.
In this case, this exhibition is a connecting link between the preceding and the following. It reminds me of the Mobius Strip, which represents infinity and consistency. With this inspiration, I have created a new ‘Mobius Strip’ combining ‘I’s. The quantity of ‘I’ depended how you perceive it; it can be equal or greater than eight. ‘Mobius I’ is trying to inform the public there are eight designers who had huge influence on Australia in the 20th century and there will only be more in the future continuously and endlessly, no matter they are famous or not.
‘Mobius I’ aims to recall the past, connect to present and inspire for future.
